How can I make vegetarian chili thicker?
I've been trying to make vegetarian chili, but it always comes out too watery. What can I do to make it thicker like regular chili?
You've got some good answers. Here's mine: you make a roux by heating oil 5 tablespoons oil in a heavy skillet, add 5 tablespoons of flour (I can now add 5 tablespoons of chili powder and all my other condiments) Cook and stir this "pasta" or "roux" med-lo heat for a few minutes to remove tastes, taking care not to scorch it, then pour in your chili – adjust the amounts depending the amount of chile they are doing. I also use a can of refried beans instead of Roux, who previously suggested in the form of put beans in food processor but a can of easy easy easy refrieds – This tastes very good too —
