If you've ever been in a beer hall in Germany, you should know that the consumption of beer is not for the faint of heart. And in Munich, in particular, consumption beer is a serious past time. No label is not the terminology, there are links, and ultimately, no atmosphere. But briefly, here is you need to know.
Ordering beer
Beer is served by the liter or "mass" or by the pint o 'Halb. The quantities lower order is generally frowned upon. For nondrinkers, although soft drinks and cola drinks are available in some beer gardens, a standard drink is 'Apfelschaftschorle' which is soda water mixed with apple juice. This is, of course, not only much healthier but also more refreshing than a cola. Then there's the 'Radler' which literally means "cyclist", and is a half beer, half-lemonade.
Food with beer
The staple food in the gardens Beer is big, soft pretzels and sausages of all kinds, usually served with sauerkraut and potatoes. A favorite is Munich 'Weißwurst or white sausage, traditionally served in the morning, often with Bavarian sweet mustard and beer. Etiquette requires that you eat "Weisswurst 'hand and leave the skin. In most beer gardens, which are also allowed to bring their own food, but never their own drinks.
To be in a beer garden
Nor rarely share tables with strangers in some of the busiest restaurants and beer gardens that sport long tables and bench seats are no exception. All you have to do is ask if there is space, "Platz frei ist das, bitte?" However, it is advisable not to sit on the "Stammtisch" even If it turns out to be completely empty, since this is a table reserved for members of a group or society, available to its members or by invitation only.
The best beer gardens of Munich
The Hofbräuhaus is located on Platz 6, is perhaps the best known and most popular beer in Munich. Enjoy fame and is usually packed at night, with locals and visitors.
The Augustiner Gaststätten, Neuhauser Strasse 27. The Augustiner is the second Munich's most famous brewery, after the Hofbräuhaus, and historical to boot. In fact, until 1885, Augustiner beer was developed right here in this location. The building is, in part, Art Nouveau and the beer garden is especially nice.
The Paulaner im Tal, Tal 12, is a restaurant rather nostalgic comprising a terrace and garden. It primarily serves local cuisine that incorporates a selection of vegetarian food quite good, and some of Austria's favorites.
The Lowenbraukeller, located next to the brewery in Nymphenburger Strasse 2, is very close to the Hauptbahnhof (central station) in a rustic locale. It has a lovely garden where the food is certainly of Bavaria. This is also a good place to go to get a whiff of the local flavor to beer garden tends to respond more to a local clientele of foreign tourists who seem to be drawn increasingly to the breweries in section the old city.
The Bratwurstherz, located in the Viktualienmarkt in Dreifaltigkeitsplatz 1, is a pleasant establishment and, as a traditional restaurant sausage as one can find. The emphasis here is on food grilled homemade sausage in a beechwood fire.
The Nurnberger Bratwurst Glockler am Dom, in Frauenplatz 9 is very similar to Bratwurstherz. It is known for his Nurnberger bratwurst (finger-sized sausages on the grill) and traditional Bavarian rate. And this is a place where you should stick to beer or even think to ask their tails as this is really frowned upon here.
The Chinesischer Turm (Chinese Pagoda), located in the English Garden, is the second largest beer garden in Munich. It has a capacity of about 6,000 people. Here, you can bring your own food, but, as with other restaurants such, their own drinks. Several other smaller beer gardens also spread through the English Garden.
