Cooking with old family recipes
Cooking is a necessity of life and for some, like the Jaguar Julie and Chef Keem, perhaps, the kitchen is one of the great pleasures of life. From then to admire. I wish I could muster the same enthusiasm. But I prefer to go dancing!
I am one of the lucky ones whose husband does it all the kitchen. And I do not take it for granted. I admire all your meals and give thanks for each one.
If I had to cook, I would. And I have.
Especially if I wanted to invite people to the house, I consider the menu carefully. The food is full of vegetables, although I'm not a vegan.
I inherited a box full of recipes that have been in the family for generations.
I went to dinner with my cousins the other night and we had a discussion about old family recipes. My cousin's wife, Eleanor, said she has a precious metal box similar recipes ancestrial and wants to create a cookbook of family. She says she has a classic Pennsylvania Dutch Chicken Pot Pie recipe was passed from her grandmother, who has not tried to do yet, but remember to eat as a child. She remembers the taste so exquisitely food that literally seemed to melt in each taste bud.
She also said Aunt Ella Cinnamon Flop recipe. Like, yeah, one is in my recipe box. too. Everyone happy with that dish!
In two weeks, I will go to my Aunt Helen birthday party 100 and I know that Cinnamon Flop dish will be the topic of conversation more than once.
She was the aunt of my Aunt Helen aunt and great aunt. When I met she lived in a nursing home, but in his day was a happy and loving. She never married, so everyone refers to it as the maiden aunt.
Ike Eisenhower eggnog recipe was there, and I have a lens that, just before it collapsed into pieces recipe forever. This particular recipe is transmitted thereafter General Eisenhower to my Uncle Earl, who played bridge with him in World War 2. Earl was a military chaplain, in turn, later to become bishop of Episcopal Church.
family photos also will be my birthday party 100 of the aunt. My aunt began painting at age 99, so I know we'll have an art exhibition of his work. She sent me a painting, he also made a lens. Grandma Moses began painting at age 77. My aunt has her beat. She took him at age 99.
So I went searching through the box. I found that different recipes brought back memories different.
For example, all my mother's cookie recipes Christmas recipes are in that box. I remember my parents that at least ten different types of cookies, kid you not, and stay up all night every night for three nights, for forty dozen cookies, at least. My mother was obsessed with making these "cookies." Then we have and eat, until Easter.
Many people stopped to eat some crackers. My mom had an open door policy – fall at any time, and you would get a real pleasure, beyond any of the cookies!
Finally, I found the recipe for cinnamon Flop!

Eleanor and I can maybe get together to write a book of family recipes. I wonder if it would be more interesting if each recipe has a story behind it?
Perhaps the interview different family members to obtain the dish memory or a memory about the person who created it.
As Joan wrote in his comment below, handwritten recipe is a thing of the past. Did you know to come up with handwritten letters? O handwritten notes to people? Or read a book?
Is it possible to recover these wonderful practices of the past, and reduce life for the "time" does not feel so fleeting?
