Protein is every muscle in your body that help many of the key functions, such as pumping blood and the removal and digestion of food. They also help build the many enzymes that your body needs to complete the internal reactions and daily functions, and the construction of DNA and antibodies.
Without adequate sources of vegetable protein, those who live a lifestyle free of meat can suffer many negative effects.
For example, if you live, day after day, without the protein in your diet, your body will begin to process your muscles to the protein needed to carry out normal bodily functions. When this happens, you not only lose muscle tone, but also ability to function properly.
Vegetarian sources of protein:

The fact that meat products are the best sources of protein, does not mean they are not sources plant that can help you get your daily requirement. It is recommended that you get 0.8 grams of protein per 2.2 pounds of body weight. For vegetarians, this mean you have to find enough vegetable protein products to meet this number.
Soy is one of the best vegetarian protein sources. It contains all the essential amino acids, making it a complete protein that can be almost completely digested by the body. For example, your body can digest 92 percent of the protein in meat products and 91 per cent of the protein found in soybeans, making them almost identical to this respect.
Other wonderful sources of vegetable protein products are nuts and legumes, such as:
- Lentils
- Chickpeas
- Beans
- Lima beans
- Almonds
- Cashews
- Pumpkin seeds
- Sunflower seeds
Some fruits and vegetables like apples, bananas, broccoli, onions, potatoes, spinach, grapes, strawberries, eggplants, and watermelon are good sources of protein.
While these do not have near the amount of protein from soy and other vegetarian sources, which help to meet their daily needs while adding variety to their diet.
When it comes to getting an adequate amount of protein in a healthy vegetarian diet, the process can be a little more difficult than it is for those who consume meat products.
