Vitamin B12 deficiency and brain shrinking?
I read on the subject. The thing is I've been vegetarian for about two years and I do not think I've achieved enough vitamin B12. I mean, I ate the eggs, but only occasionally. I really cared now, because the whole thing that the brain is reduced when there vitamin B12 deficiency because the vitamin is extremely important for brain function. and decreased brain can cause all sorts of problems. two years to be poor, my brain may have actually gotten smaller? and is reversible???
Not B12 deficient I am concerned for a while – I have tingling and numbness in the hands and legs is a sign of nerve damage. This was when I was a vegetarian and felt better once I started taking supplements (and I am not a vegetarian). Although vitamin B12 deficiency is serious and bad for you I think my brain is fine as I am doing a degree in mathematics and have not noticed any problems with my brain. I was probably inadequate for about 2 years, but his body can store some serious damage, so in 2 years have not been made. In fact, the states of the NHS site web: "It can be stored in the body in small amounts, and about 80% of this is stored in the liver. It can take three or four years for symptoms deficiency to develop. "Do you drink milk? If you do, you are likely to be deficient as a half pint of milk contains more than half your RDA of vitamin B12, but you should consider getting fortified foods such as cereals and drinks such as Horlicks, Ovomaltine and milo that vitamin B12 – a jar of one of these drinks will 20% of the RDA. Also a teaspoon of marmite has 60% of the RDA of vitamin B12. Adding one of these foods or drinks to your daily diet sure to get enough. The RDA is 2.4 micrograms.
