PLease suggest some good homemade dog food for 4-5 mnth neopolitian mastiff…?
i have a neo mastiff of 4-5 month, i feed him eukanauba giant puppy…but he is too thin and week, (well i think so), if u can help me in preparing some good homemade dog food… i prefer it to be vegetarian..
big mistake people often make is assuming home made food is expensive when in FACT most big brand name dog foods like eukanauba are actually more expensive than regular groceries per pound.
many people will mix in tripe which is really good, but i have found many mastiffs just refuse to eat it(i would too lol).
we used to mix canadae, eggs, and hamburger (the hamburger & eggs were cheaper than canadae when on sale). he had super soft fur and nice plumpy tummy and best of all he was very very happy & healthy. THEN, after a couple months he started getting runs wheneevr eating canadae (i still think it is one of the best dry bag foods). we then went to whole chickens with bones (at walmart 2/3 price of dogfood), eggs, cow liver, hearts, gizzards, and maybe a couple small meats i forgot.
do some raw diet searches to make sure you get a good balance, but realize in wild what would they eat? animals with bones, meat, organs, eyes, etc. ALL RAW. think in those terms, keep meat fresh (only give what he will eat then & there and only thaw a day ahead or 2 at most) and he should be happy & healthy…
IF you are worried about raw meat which would in my opinion be an error, you can still cook meat & feed it to him, but must adjust for changes in meat.
